The Legacy Program
When the child is ready—typically around ages 10–12—their knife can be returned to Kuiken & Co. Knife Works to be professionally sharpened and brought to full function.

The 1953 – Built on Legacy

The 1953 is named in honor of my father and the year he was born. It represents the values passed down through generations—hard work, reliability, and doing things the right way. Those same principles are built into every knife we make.
With a slightly more compact profile than the Explorer, the 1953 offers excellent control and precision while still maintaining the strength needed for real work. Its blade shape lends itself well to clean slicing and detailed tasks, making it a dependable companion in the field or around camp.
At 8 inches overall, it carries easily while still providing the capability expected from a full-purpose outdoor knife.
This is a knife meant to be used, carried, and eventually passed down—just like the values it represents.

The Patrick Henry – Heritage in Hand

Named after one of Virginia’s most iconic historical figures, the Patrick Henry pays tribute to the heritage, grit, and independence that inspired the founding of Kuiken & Co. Knife Works after our move to Martinsville, Virginia.
With strong ties to the surrounding region, this model represents both craftsmanship and the spirit of building something with your own two hands.
At approximately 7 1/2 inches overall, the Patrick Henry is designed as a versatile everyday fixed blade—equally at home in the woods, around camp, or carried as a dependable utility knife.
